Regarding the upcoming Central Committee meeting of SYRIZA scheduled for Thursday (23/10) and Alexis Tsipras’ resignation from his parliamentary position, Tryfon Alexiadis spoke to Parapolitika 90.1. “Alexis’ resignation is not a step toward strengthening the party, it is a step that weakens SYRIZA politically, organizationally, and financially. Nevertheless, I respect his political choice, although I certainly disagree with it,” declared the Central Committee member of SYRIZA-PS today on the show “She and I” with journalists Stella Gantona and Thanasis Fouskidis.
What SYRIZA official told Parapolitika 90.1 about Tsipras resignation
Specifically, among other things, Mr. Alexiadis emphasized:
T.ALEXIADIS: Tomorrow SYRIZA’s Political Secretariat convenes. The Central Committee has charted a specific course with a unanimous decision. Those who want to help and join this course are welcome, those who have other views, other directions, good luck on their path.
When asked about former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, he stated:
T.ALEXIADIS: Al. Tsipras made his own political choices. I disagree with them but I respect them. We have our own path and we continue on our own path.
T.ALEXIADIS: Alexis’ resignation is not a step toward strengthening SYRIZA, it is a step that weakens SYRIZA politically, organizationally, and financially. Nevertheless, I respect his political choice, although I certainly disagree with it. Many times in the past I have experienced confrontations, conflicts, departures etc., and then when the need arose, convergences, agreements, reunifications, so there’s no need for sorrows, fanaticism or anything else.
T.ALEXIADIS: We are also waiting for the positions of Tsipras’ party or whatever other party is created, if it is created, but we won’t remain stuck on this. SYRIZA will not live the next period under a cloud wondering if someone will do something and what they will say. SYRIZA has a specific course and we will follow this course and try to convince society as well.
