The popularity of French President Emmanuel Macron appears to be plummeting to rock bottom, according to new polls amid political and economic crisis in France. The collapse of Emmanuel Macron’s popularity and the electoral shrinkage of political forces supporting him in France are reflected in new polling published today, Thursday, October 9, 2025, by French media outlets.

Specifically, according to an “Elabe” poll for “LES ÉCHOS” newspaper, only 14% of French citizens trust the French president to effectively address the country’s problems, representing a 3-point drop in one month. This represents a spectacular collapse, with 7 points lost over two months and 13 points since March 2025, the newspaper reports, noting that with a 14% trust rating, Emmanuel Macron breaks his own record for low popularity from the previous month, matching François Hollande’s negative record from November 2016.
France polls: Lecornu’s popularity soars – who’s in first place
The same poll shows that resigned Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu sees his popularity skyrocket dramatically. While he ranked 18th position among 30 political figures in Elabe’s monthly measurement before his appointment to the Prime Minister’s office on September 9, he now sits in 7th place in French preferences for political figures, with 28% positive opinions (+11 points). In first place is far-right Jordan Bardella (39%), followed by former prime ministers under Macron’s presidency Édouard Philippe (35%) and Gabriel Attal (33%).
Meanwhile, “Le Figaro” newspaper publishes an article titled “2027 Presidential Elections: National Rally is the big favorite according to new poll, as centrist bloc collapses.” The article states that more than a year and a half before the presidential elections, the far-right National Rally (RN) party appears as the big favorite in voting intentions, gathering between 34% and 35%.
National Rally consistently first in voting intentions
The centrist bloc, which largely supports the French president, is collapsing and finds itself neck-and-neck with the Left for a second-round position. Specifically, according to a “Toluna Harris Interactive” poll for television station “RTL,” the National Rally represented by either its president Jordan Bardella or its parliamentary group president Marine Le Pen remains consistently first in first-round voting intentions. This holds true regardless of opponents, including former prime ministers Gabriel Attal (12% in voting intentions) or Édouard Philippe (between 15% and 16%, while before summer he exceeded 20%).
The National Rally would reach 35% if Jordan Bardella ran as candidate, nearly 12 points more than the National Rally’s first-round percentage in the 2022 presidential elections. Marine Le Pen also dominates with 34% (her current conviction prevents her from running again for now). On the Left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon with France Unbowed gathers 14% in voting intentions, regardless of scenario. Socialist-aligned Raphaël Glucksmann would also gather 14% if the centrist bloc candidate were Gabriel Attal and 12% against Édouard Philippe.
Finally, in case of National Assembly dissolution, the National Rally would come first in first-round parliamentary election voting intentions, according to an OpinionWay poll for CNEWS television. As in the first round of 2024 parliamentary elections, the National Rally would prevail in all scenarios, gathering between 33% and 34%, even against a unified front of all left-wing parties, which would then reach 24%.
