With emphasis on experience and original hospitality philosophy in city hotels and next-gen resorts, Greek tourism is entering a new phase of maturity, with hotel investments acquiring strategic objectives. This new phase is not only about increasing bed capacity and seasonal demand, but also about a broader redefinition of Greece on the international map as the most modern tourist destination for 365 days a year.
Tourism: New hotel openings year-round
Among the freshest developments is the newly established Hilton Chania Old Town Resort and SPA in Crete, which is preparing to open its doors to the public in a few months, in May (2026). Specifically, the Tsiledakis Group announced the new addition, which is the result of collaboration with Hilton and Hotelleading, which undertook the management.
It will operate year-round, consisting of 85 rooms and suites with panoramic sea views, a central pool, private pools, and modern conference facilities (for 250 people) for hosting gastronomic and cultural events.
New HILTON hotel in Crete features VIP rooms and royal suite
On the 6th floor of the new Hilton Chania, high-level VIP rooms have been built, including the presidential and royal suite (600 sq.m.), which is among the largest in Crete’s hotel market, with capacity to accommodate up to ten people.
Additionally, the hotel offers child supervision and entertainment services, boutique and branded stores, wellness services with a special spa area, hammam, steam baths and indoor heated pool, modern gym with personal trainer availability. In the gastronomic field, besides the kitchen and bar, it will offer a special Cigar and Spirits Lounge area with selected humidors.
“With Hilton’s prestige and Hotelleading’s local expertise, we’re not simply creating a new hotel. We’re building a new identity for Chania as an attractive Mediterranean destination year-round,” states Lambros Tsiledakis, Vice President of Development and Operations of the eponymous group. “Crete is a particularly attractive destination, and this impressive new hotel will meet the constantly growing demand for accommodation options on the island once it begins welcoming visitors,” says Andreas Koukas, Development Director of Hilton for Greece and Cyprus.

Hotels: Athens debut for Radisson Group
The Radisson Group is preparing a significant launch in the hotel market chessboard from the new year, doubling its portfolio to ten hotels. The most significant arrival is Radisson RED Mitropoleos Square Athens in downtown Athens, which will welcome its first visitors in May (2026) and represents the first RED in Greece. With more than one hundred rooms, three restaurants, lobby bar and rooftop terraces, the new hotel will be an emerging player in the city break market, while Radisson Theatrou Square Athens takes position in the same area, opening in spring. This is the historic building that housed Athens’ first winter theater, as well as the Diplarios School, and the goal is to make it an attractive unit year-round.
At the same time, new resorts are coming to mainland Greece, with Radisson Blu Resort Mani in Gythio, while in the Cyclades, in Paros, a resort from Radisson Hotel Group is expected.
“The openings in Athens, the Peloponnese and the islands highlight our commitment to providing quality properties for our partners in the market, as well as high-quality hospitality experiences for our visitors, while simultaneously doubling our Greek portfolio, establishing the unique presence of Radisson Hotel Group in the country,” emphasizes Elie Milky, Chief Development Officer of the Group for Greece, Cyprus, Middle East and Northeast Africa, in view of the new openings.

Optimum Hospitality enters modern hospitality game
Optimum Hospitality Development and Solutions is also making a dynamic entry into the hospitality market, specializing in Real Estate Development, as it takes over the management of four hotels plus the management of a Thermal Spring, with agreements in the pipeline for taking over two more hotels and four Thermal Springs.
Specifically, it has taken over the Mythical Coast Wellness Retreat, Athens One Smart Hotel, Samos City Hotel and Mythical Blue Santorini hotels and, according to the company, the goal is to create sustainable and competitive hotel ventures under a comprehensive hotel management package that covers all phases of development, operation and commercial positioning of each tourism enterprise.
