Today, Wednesday October 1st, a test activation of all civil defense warning sirens will take place across the entire country, as part of the major military exercise “PARMENION-25”. According to an announcement by the Greek Police, the procedure is purely for testing purposes and there is no cause for public concern.
Along with the sounding of the sirens, church bells will also ring with short, continuous tolls lasting three minutes at a rapid pace. This specific action is part of preparedness exercises and concerns the coordination of all involved civilian and military agencies for emergency response.
The Greek Police calls on citizens to remain calm, clarifying once again that this is exclusively a scheduled test of the alarm system.
