56% of employees perceive financial bonuses as a sign of appreciation, according to a kariera.gr survey conducted through LinkedIn targeting hospitality and tourism industry professionals. The survey aimed to highlight the factors that make a work environment attractive, the forms of rewards employees value most, their level of recognition, and their professional aspirations.

What the survey reveals about the hospitality and tourism sector
Regarding elements that make a work environment truly attractive, employees prioritize a positive and supportive climate (42%), followed by recognition of work and dedication (36%). Learning and development opportunities account for 15%, while “team bonding” represents just 8%.
As for reward forms, 38% of respondents consider full board and accommodation as the most important bonus, while training and career development follow with 24%. Extra vacation days are preferred by 21%, and private health insurance accounts for 16%.
When asked what would make them feel genuine appreciation from their employer, the majority (56%) answered they would want a financial bonus or gift. 22% prefer more advancement opportunities and 20% want trust and autonomy. Only 3% believe a public “thank you” is sufficient.
Hospitality and tourism sector employees maintain high aspirations: 27% want to create their own business, while 25% aim for an international work environment and another 25% target leadership positions. A significant percentage (24%) desires to become an expert in one field.
The survey reveals that the hospitality and tourism sector needs to invest more in recognition, training, and benefits to remain attractive and support employee aspirations.
