The Fire Service has brought under partial control the fire that broke out at two workshops on Agiou Panteleimonos Street in Aigaleo, according to an official update. The blaze erupted in the early morning hours, causing extensive damage to both commercial premises. Firefighting efforts proved particularly challenging, as flammable materials stored inside the two buildings — combined with an extremely high pyrothermal load — initially triggered an explosion, followed by a fierce re-ignition of the fire.
The Greek Police (ELAS) was also called in to assist, as firefighters worked to evacuate all individuals found within a 400-metre radius of the burning buildings. A total of 35 firefighters deployed with 11 vehicles and a specialized articulated boom truck fought the blaze on the ground. The Municipality of Aigaleo also provided additional support with water tankers.
It is noted that the Athens Arson Investigation Unit has been mobilized to determine the cause of the fire.
