A 12-year-old boy who was seriously injured in an electric scooter accident on the island of Karpathos is currently being treated in the ICU of “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital in Athens. According to karpathiakanea.gr, the incident occurred on Saturday evening in the village of Diafani, prompting an immediate response from the island’s health authorities.

According to POEDIN president Michalis Giannakos, the child was initially transferred to Karpathos Hospital, where he was intubated. A decision was then made to airlift him to Athens aboard a military aircraft so that he could receive specialized medical care. The 12-year-old was subsequently admitted to “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital to continue his treatment.
In a later update, Mr. Giannakos confirmed that the boy has since been extubated and remains hospitalized in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The exact circumstances surrounding the electric scooter fall have not yet been made public.
