Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his firm conviction that the minimum wage will surpass €950 before the next elections, during a public discussion with citizens in Kozani on August 28. Speaking directly to residents, Mitsotakis stated: “In 2023, I made specific commitments. I told you then that the minimum wage would reach €950. I can now tell you with certainty that before the elections it will have exceeded €950.”

Mitsotakis in Kozani: “New Democracy is the only political force guaranteeing stability and progress”
“New Democracy is the only political force that guarantees both stability and progress,” Mitsotakis asserted. “Opposing us are parties that have one single mission: to remove New Democracy and Mitsotakis — with no plan, as if a country can be governed by magic. Citizens have both memory and judgment, and they will recognize that New Democracy can keep the country on course during very difficult geopolitical times and guarantee every Greek man and woman a much better future,” he added.
The Prime Minister also offered a preview of his upcoming announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). “In one week at the TIF, I will present the government’s economic plan for the coming year, as well as our roadmap through 2030. The TIF is an opportunity to make a fair assessment — what we achieved, how consistent we were with our commitments — and to talk about the future.
To support society, we must stand on solid foundations. To be able to share prosperity with citizens, we must first create it — that is what sets us apart from other parties. The government’s goal is for the overall growth of the economy to reach every citizen in every corner of the country. We have been consistent with our pre-election program,” he emphasized.
What he said about Western Macedonia
Speaking specifically about the Western Macedonia region, Mitsotakis said: “The brand-new hospital has been inaugurated using European funds and Recovery Fund resources. We will also renovate the city’s old hospital, which dates back to the 1950s, with an investment of €23 million from the Just Transition Programme. We are expecting the Regional Governor to launch the relevant tender shortly so that funding can begin immediately.
We have built more than 150 health centers across the country using Recovery Fund resources. At the Bodosakeio Hospital in Ptolemaida, something truly innovative will be created — a new oncology unit, so that cancer patients in the region no longer need to travel to Thessaloniki or even further to receive treatment. It should be noted that Western Macedonia alone holds the privilege of benefiting from the Just Transition Programme, which provides significant resources to both central and local government.”
The Prime Minister also referenced the E65 motorway, noting that it now extends all the way to Florina. On the topic of job creation, he said: “Today we are moving along this path of creating jobs in Western Macedonia. Just today I visited the landmark new investment near the abandoned factory that has been transformed into a new tomato greenhouse.

That single investment in Drama alone created 440 jobs, and the same will happen here within the next 12 to 18 months. I visited the Totis industrial facility, where another 200 jobs will be created. I also visited winery businesses and tourism enterprises, and we are making investments in Grevena and the ski resort so that the people of Western Macedonia can live and thrive in their own region.”
Finally, he concluded: “PPC is absolutely identified with Western Macedonia — it is not abandoning the region, but rather securing its development. The final employment balance will be positive — more jobs created than those that were lost.”
