The 18-year-old who attacked and wounded his former girlfriend with a kitchen knife in Kallithea — after she decided to end their relationship — is now claiming remorse. The young woman spoke to MEGA television and described the harrowing experiences she endured throughout their relationship. The attack took place in broad daylight, in the middle of the street, when the 18-year-old allegedly lunged at his ex-girlfriend with a kitchen knife, wounded her, and then fled the scene. The victim claims her former partner had turned her life into a nightmare, with constant threats, extreme jealousy, and repeated incidents of aggressive behavior.

“I had already filed two previous complaints against him for violent behavior — he used to raise his hand at me. He would fly into a rage out of nowhere. I had given him another chance, but after a long time the same thing happened again. He was extremely jealous and has an obsession with me. He monitors everything,” the victim said.
Kallithea: Attacker claims remorse through his lawyer
The young perpetrator, who has since been arrested, issued a statement of remorse through his defense attorney. “What we have to say is a sincere apology to the victim. Unfortunately, they had an altercation — what my client told me was that she spoke to him in a very hurtful way regarding both the end of their relationship and the presence of a third person. As part of our defense, we will be requesting a psychiatric evaluation of the accused tomorrow.”
Although he is only 18 years old, the accused has a troubled criminal history. Specifically, he had previously come to the attention of Greek authorities in connection with drug-related offenses, thefts, and incidents of domestic violence. Not long ago, his own sister had filed a complaint against him after he allegedly attacked her.
“He had come to the attention of the authorities — we cannot deny that. His family is devastated and feels at a complete loss. His sister had asked the police for help in order to have him admitted for psychiatric care, and the police drew up a case file for domestic violence. All of this could have been avoided if the police and the prosecutor’s office had responded the previous time and done what the family was asking.”
Shortly before his arrest, the 18-year-old allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend that he would kill her next time. The perpetrator has been charged by the prosecutor with five misdemeanor counts and will face an expedited court hearing tomorrow.
