A fatal car accident occurred this morning (22/8) at the Arfaron junction in Kalamata. At around 7:50 a.m., under circumstances that have yet to be fully clarified, two vehicles collided — one of which was being driven by a 46-year-old woman from the Netherlands.

The driver of the other vehicle, reportedly accompanied by up to two passengers, fled the scene of the accident and is currently being sought by authorities. The 46-year-old woman was rushed to Kalamata General Hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries. The woman had been visiting Greece on holiday with her husband. The Central Peloponnese Traffic Police Department has launched a preliminary investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash.
