A tragic end has come to the search operation for a Greek mountaineer who fell into a remote ravine on Mount Olympus on Saturday afternoon (22/08), after he was found dead. Authorities were notified at approximately 1:20 PM about the fall of the 40-year-old man, immediately mobilizing rescue forces. The operation was described as extremely demanding, as the unfortunate 40-year-old fell in a difficult-to-reach area between Louki Mytikas and Kakoskala. During his descent, he reportedly lost his way and fell into the deep ravine.

According to voria.gr, members of the Greek Rescue Team as well as Fire Service personnel are operating at the scene, where they unfortunately located the mountaineer deceased. According to the same source, a recovery operation is currently underway to retrieve the body of the unfortunate man. The operation is extremely difficult, as the location is inaccessible and dangerous.
