Shock and outrage swept through the village of Avanta, in the municipality of Alexandroupoli, on Wednesday afternoon (5/8), when a man allegedly performed indecent acts in front of underage girls who were playing in the local square. According to information from e-evros.gr, the man approached the area where young children were playing and allegedly exposed his genitals, causing serious distress among local residents. The incident was witnessed in time by an off-duty police officer who happened to be present at the square. He reacted immediately, alerting the authorities, and officers arrived at the village shortly after, locating and arresting the man.

It should be noted that this same individual had been arrested in Alexandroupoli only days earlier on the exact same charge, yet had subsequently been released. The father of one of the girls who were present at the square and witnessed the incident has spoken out, describing the traumatic impact on his family. He stated that his daughter is in a very poor psychological state — she refuses to eat and is unable to sleep due to the shock she experienced.
The arrested man was brought before a court this afternoon, where he was granted a postponement to prepare his defence.
