A improvised explosive device carried by an unidentified woman detonated shortly before 8:00 PM on August 1st in Moscow, near an Italian restaurant located at Kudrinskaya Square. According to reports, the establishment is situated inside one of the seven iconic skyscrapers built during the Stalin era. The bomb explosion claimed the lives of the unidentified woman, a security guard who had stopped her outside the restaurant, and one customer. Two additional individuals who were in the vicinity of the blast were subsequently reported to have died at the hospital to which they were transported, according to television channel REN TV. Furthermore, six more people are reportedly in critical condition, according to the same sources.
Speculation is mounting that the attack may be linked to the ongoing war in Ukraine, while reports suggest the woman may not have been aware she was carrying an explosive device. Investigators are also working to determine who the intended target of the attack was.
