The minister announced his resignation via X after Indian police used tear gas against young protesters in New Delhi, and just hours before protest leaders were set to participate in a new round of talks with ministers from the Modi government.

A spokesperson for the Cockroach People’s Party, which played a leading role in the protest movement that erupted following yet another national exam paper leak scandal, stated that if the Education Minister has indeed resigned, it is “good news” — though no official government announcement has been made yet.
