A shocking video document brings new footage to light from the fatal road accident that occurred on the night of Friday, July 17, on Mikis Theodorakis Avenue in Stavroupoli, Thessaloniki, claiming the life of a 23-year-old motorcyclist. According to the latest information, the motorcycle collided with a private car at an intersection in the area, causing the young rider to be thrown from his bike and suffer severe traumatic brain injuries. Despite the efforts of doctors at Papanikolaou Hospital, he was unable to survive and succumbed to his injuries.

How the Thessaloniki road accident happened
According to reports, the 25-year-old car driver was travelling from a side road and entered Mikis Theodorakis Avenue while his traffic light was green. At the same moment, the motorcyclist was riding along Lagkada Street and was crossing the intersection perpendicularly, also on a green light — as both traffic signals in the two directions turn green simultaneously at that particular junction. The exact circumstances under which the collision occurred are currently under investigation by the Traffic Police.
The immediate response of emergency services
An ambulance unit was already present at the scene responding to a separate incident, which allowed paramedics to intervene within just seconds of the collision.
Paramedics intubated the critically injured motorcyclist on the spot and rushed him to Papanikolaou Hospital, where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries.
Car driver released pending investigation
The 25-year-old car driver was arrested following the accident but was subsequently released pending the completion of the preliminary investigation and the full inquiry into the circumstances of the crash.
According to reports, a breathalyser test administered at the scene returned a negative result, while the results of blood tests are still pending and will be included in the case file.
The preliminary investigation into the exact circumstances of the fatal crash is being conducted by the competent Thessaloniki Traffic Police Sub-Directorate.
