Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy has launched a fierce attack on US President Donald Trump, arguing that American strategy toward Iran has reached a dead end and that the latest military operations are being approached with what he called “sheer madness.”
Democratic Senator delivers scathing criticism of Trump over Middle East developments
In a post on platform X, Murphy argued that Trump “has no path to a deal,” contending that recent developments have strengthened Tehran’s position rather than weakening it. “Trump has no moves to make. Iran has been emboldened. The hardliners are now in control and are unlikely to move forward with a meaningful agreement on the nuclear program or to relinquish control of the Strait of Hormuz. This is an absolute disaster,” he wrote pointedly.
Predictably, full scale war has broken out again with Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz is closed. Gas prices are spiking again.
The bottom line? Trump has no moves to make. His spiraling incompetence has boxed America in. It’s only going to get worse.

The Connecticut senator has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of US-Israeli military cooperation against Iran, arguing that the escalation of operations not only fails to create conditions for a diplomatic solution, but actively empowers the most hardline factions within the Iranian regime. His remarks come during a period of intense escalation in the Middle East, with Washington and Tehran on a collision course and the international community expressing growing alarm over the implications for regional stability and global energy markets.
