A tragedy struck northeastern Thailand when a pickup truck driven by an 11-year-old boy plowed into a group of Buddhist monks. Eight monks were killed in the accident, while more than ten others were injured. The incident occurred in Mukdahan province, where a total of 35 monks and 5 worshippers were taking part in a religious procession along a provincial road.
Videos circulating on social media captured the full scale of the tragedy, showing personal belongings scattered across the road beside the wrecked pickup truck.

Thailand: 11-year-old loses control of vehicle and crashes into monks
According to police, five monks were killed instantly, while three more later succumbed to their injuries in hospital. Authorities believe the 11-year-old took his parents’ pickup truck without their permission before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into the procession. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, Mukdahan Hospital issued an urgent call for blood donations, as several of the injured monks remain in critical condition.
