The fire that engulfed two boats at Gaios harbor in Paxos was brought under control on Thursday afternoon (June 11). The contribution of a fire boat that arrived from Igoumenitsa was particularly important for the firefighting operation, helping to prevent the fire from spreading to other vessels.

Paxos: Captain jumps into sea due to fire
The fire broke out on a tourist boat that was in the process of departing from the harbor. The captain evacuated the tourists and attempted to extinguish the fire. However, he was unsuccessful and jumped into the sea. The fire spread to an adjacent boat, from which 18 tourists had already disembarked. The boats sustained major damage, with the second one half-submerged. The causes remain unknown for now, but will be investigated by the competent port authorities.
