The causes that led to the outbreak of the fire near Veikos Grove, in Filothei, are becoming known in recent hours. The fire that broke out during midday hours was immediately brought under control, preventing it from threatening homes and only burning some dry grass. In its update, the Fire Service reports that the Arson Crime Investigation Directorate (ΔΑΕΕ) has already taken over the investigation of the causes. Civil Protection points out that the fire started from the beehives and for this reason they are searching for the beekeepers who fled as soon as the fire spread.
Fire near Veikos Grove: Fire service update
The fire that broke out today in the suburban grove on Filothei Hill in Attica was immediately brought under control, according to a Fire Service announcement.
The mobilization of forces was immediate, it adds, as the fire broke out within the grove and near a residential area. Throughout the incident, ESKEDIK maintained continuous surveillance from drones.
The operation involved 47 firefighters with two ground teams from the 1st EMODE, 11 vehicles and volunteers, while one helicopter operated from the air.
The Arson Crime Investigation Directorate (ΔΑΕΕ) has already taken over the investigation of the causes.
