Regarding the incident of illness affecting Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, who felt unwell on Sunday morning (31/05) during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Aretsou, Thessaloniki, the Archdiocese of America issued an official statement.

“The Archdiocese of America announces that His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America co-celebrated during the Feast of Pentecost together with His Eminence Metropolitan Justin of Nea Krini and Kalamaria and His Grace Bishop John of Phocaea at the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Aretsou.
At the end of the Great Vespers, His Eminence felt mild discomfort due to his particularly heavy schedule and the excessive heat of recent days.
As a precautionary measure, His Eminence was transported to a city hospital, from which he has already been discharged in perfect health.”
