A 3.5-year-old girl from Crete is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Children’s Hospital, showing clear signs of abuse. According to initial reports, the child’s condition prompted immediate mobilization of authorities, while police proceeded to arrest the mother. Meanwhile, the father remains missing. The president of POEDIN, Michalis Giannakos, describing the child’s health condition, told Live News: “She has visible signs of abuse. She had bruises all over her body from beatings. It was found that she suffers from epidural hematoma. She was taken to the operating room where she was stabilized by a team of doctors. She bears signs of beatings, she has been abused in previous periods as well.”

Additionally, Giorgos Chalkiadakis, director of the PAGNI hospital where the child was first treated, stated: “She is intubated in the Children’s ICU. The examinations performed show hemorrhages in the brain and ischemia in vital organs. An old fracture in the right arm, her condition is critical. This is a case we are investigating and that’s why forensic doctors have been called. The child has multiple bruises all over her body.”
The child’s mother has been arrested following the girl’s hospitalization, while the father who disappeared is being sought.
