The risk of fire remains high in our country, which is in the grip of a heatwave, with temperatures reaching up to 39 degrees Celsius today, Wednesday (16/7), in several areas of mainland Greece. The suffocating atmosphere, particularly in large urban centers, combined with increased humidity, creates difficult conditions, especially for vulnerable population groups.

Temperatures in Athens and Thessaloniki will reach up to 37 degrees Celsius, while in Thessaly and Peloponnese maximum values may touch 39 degrees. Winds remain weak, a fact that intensifies the risk of fires, which is characterized as very high for many areas.

According to meteo.gr, generally clear weather is expected today, with sunshine and locally patchy clouds from midday, mainly in mountainous mainland areas. There is a small chance of brief showers in the mountains of Eastern Macedonia and western Thrace. African dust concentrations will be slightly increased.

Temperature: From 19 to 36-37 and locally 38 degrees and in the Ionian islands up to 34 degrees Celsius. In interior Epirus 2 to 4 degrees lower.
EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Generally clear. During midday-afternoon hours local clouds will develop in mountainous areas.

Thursday 17/7:

Friday 18/7:
Change of scenery in northern Greece, with clouds that will gradually increase and be accompanied by local rains and sporadic thunderstorms. In the rest of the country generally clear weather with local clouds is expected. Temperature will show a drop in the north.
