Regarding the enormous potential of US-Russia relations and what is being said about them, today Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated, emphasizing that much is being said, but in reality “nothing is happening.”
Lavrov: “Nothing is happening” in US-Russia relations
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump, after his return to the White House, restored dialogue with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and has repeatedly promised to end the war in Ukraine, something he has not managed to achieve so far.
As Sergei Lavrov emphasized among other things, “the good talk” about cooperation in technology, energy and other projects has so far not led to results. “Nothing has happened in real life,” he said characteristically, adding however that Moscow appreciates Trump’s initiative to start dialogue.
Referring to former US President Joe Biden, he said: “Apart from this regular dialogue – which is something common in relations between peoples and countries – everything else follows the pattern that President Biden started.” Concluding, speaking to RT India in English, he said: “The sanctions imposed during his presidency remain in force. Additionally, the Trump administration has undertaken its own initiatives to punish Russia’s economy.”
