The timeline
The little boy was alone at home on Vasileos Georgiou Street in eastern Thessaloniki and had gone out onto the balcony of his home on the 6th floor of the apartment building, from where he was throwing whatever he could find inside the house and on the balcony that he could lift. Among these were several household appliances, including a vacuum cleaner, while he had taken the hose and was soaking passersby!
It was the passersby who notified the police, who rushed to the scene. A major operation was mounted by the Hellenic Police with officers gaining access to the 6th floor balcony from the roof. There they found the 5-year-old alone and led him to safety.
