The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew sent a letter of support to US President Donald Trump. The head of the Orthodox Church expressed his solidarity with Donald and Melania Trump, as well as all those affected by the attack that occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
“We thank Almighty God that You and the First Lady are well and express our concern for the member of the United States Secret Service who was injured while performing his duty. We pray that the Lord will grant him swift and complete recovery and strengthen all those who are entrusted with protecting public officials and maintaining public order,” the Patriarch stated.
“Such an act of violence, especially in the context of an event dedicated to public life, communication and the responsibilities of democratic society, serves as a serious reminder of the fragility of human security and the urgent need to reject hatred, fanaticism and all forms of aggression,” he added, among other things.
