Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan today accused Israel of using the war in the Middle East as a pretext to “seize more territory.” “Israel is not seeking to secure its own safety. Israel wants more territory. Security is being used by the Netanyahu government as a pretext to seize more territory,” Fidan said at a diplomatic forum in Antalya, southern Turkey.
Fidan: New accusations against Israel
The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that, beyond Palestinian territories (Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem), Israel now wants to assert sovereignty over territories belonging to Lebanon and Syria.
“This is continuous occupation and expansion… This must stop,” Fidan added, arguing that “Israel has created an international illusion by pretending it only seeks its own security.”
