Only a few details are missing from the complete picture of the tragic death of 19-year-old Myrto in Kefalonia. Authorities knew almost from the first moment that the unfortunate girl was transported to the central square of Argostoli by at least two men, who simply left her there to breathe her last breath.
Now the official findings remain, which will determine both how the 19-year-old “died” and who bore the greatest responsibility for this unspeakable tragedy. Three young men are in police custody, facing charges of endangerment and possibly manslaughter, if and when the competent prosecutor decides to proceed in that direction. However, everything will depend on these details that seemingly are missing from the preliminary investigation framework.
Kefalonia: The crucial video regarding 19-year-old Myrto’s death
The tragically lost Myrto was found shortly after 4:30 AM on Easter Tuesday, abandoned and unconscious in the central square of Argostoli. She was found outside and across from a health establishment, until she was spotted by a local resident who called the ambulance service and police. The paramedics arrived quickly at the scene, but it was too late for the 19-year-old. Despite their efforts, despite being transferred to the local hospital, the 19-year-old passed away. What is particularly significant is that the officers of the Crime Investigation Department of Argostoli managed to locate video evidence in a short time after the young woman’s discovery, which is considered crucial.
According to parapolitika.gr sources, the 19-year-old was not found alone at the spot where she was discovered unconscious. The same sources report that this crucial video shows her being transported by at least two men, who left her at the location and then departed. This way, the police had an early picture of who was involved in the incident.
Forensic report will be decisive
In any case, the forensic report is expected to be decisive in shaping the case. We recall that during the autopsy by the forensic pathologist – at least during the macroscopic examination – no injuries or other abrasions were found that would indicate a struggle or direct criminal action. The necropsy is awaited on one hand, and toxicological tests are awaited on the other, which will exclude or confirm the scenario regarding drug use in the coming days.
The involved parties reportedly admitted to authorities that all three of them, as well as 19-year-old Myrto, used cocaine in a hotel before the girl lost consciousness. The young men will also undergo tests to prove the truth of their statements.
Discrepancies in the three suspects’ versions
Regarding the cases of the three young men, who surrendered hours apart from each other, according to sources, the versions presented by each one separately have some discrepancies.
We recall that three men have been arrested for endangerment: a 26-year-old of Greek origin, a former athlete, a 22-year-old from Albania, and a 23-year-old of Greek descent.
The central axis of their descriptions is the presence of all four at a hotel and that at some point Myrto felt unwell. Then discrepancies arise regarding who arranged the meeting, who supplied the group with drugs – mainly cocaine – and who made the decision to abandon Myrto in the street. These unanswered details give the impression that those involved are essentially trying to shift blame to each other, while it appears they are “accusing” the unfortunate 19-year-old of being the one who arranged the meeting with those involved at a local hotel.
