Police investigators are awaiting the autopsy from the competent forensic examiner of the Athens Service in their efforts to piece together the puzzle of the thriller unfolding in Pallini. In the Leontario area between Pallini and Glyka Nera, a 49-year-old man was found dead on Monday afternoon. What was peculiar about his case? Two plastic cable ties were wrapped around his neck. According to police sources, the unfortunate man’s body was found face down in the side ditch of road 541 BC in a slightly “curled up” position. There are reports suggesting that when the man was discovered, a witness noticed that one of his ears was blackened.
Pallini: The possibility of criminal activity
According to reports, residents discovered the 49-year-old between 7:00 and 7:30 PM. Officers from the DI.AS. Unit were the first to arrive at the scene at 7:35 PM. From the beginning, there was confusion. Experienced officers, possibly based on the body’s position and some visible but not serious injuries, estimated that the possibility of criminal activity should not be ruled out.
For his part, when the forensic examiner arrived a little later and conducted the autopsy, he began to lean toward suicide. His assessments were partly confirmed by a note found at the 49-year-old’s home. After many hours, police identified him and discovered that he lived very close to where he lost his life. The note was reportedly apologetic to the deceased’s family, with one plea: “Take care of the children.” It appears that the 49-year-old was a business owner whose company was facing serious financial problems.
The autopsy is expected today. It will provide the final answers as some injuries were what initially concerned the forensic examiner. And it is he who will ultimately find the details missing from the bigger picture.
