Thessaloniki: Teacher found guilty of sexual dignity violation
The Thessaloniki Single-Member Misdemeanor Court found the teacher guilty of sexually harassing the six female students, specifically for sexual dignity violation on multiple counts. The sentence, while initially providing for two years imprisonment, was converted to a daily fine of 10 euros, with the 49-year-old teacher filing an appeal.
The case came to the attention of authorities following a complaint by an 11-year-old student who spoke to her parents, revealing that she had received a sexually explicit message from the teacher. This was followed by complaints from five other female students. According to witnesses, the 49-year-old habitually offered food and money to his underage female students.
Teacher admitted to only one charge
The 49-year-old admitted only to sending the message to the 11-year-old girl, while regarding the other allegations he spoke of a “tsunami of misinformation.” “I was in complete disarray, I had no sense of what I was doing, I wasn’t myself,” he noted. “I never touched her, nor did I have any sexual intentions with the children,” the 49-year-old added.
