Carrying photographs of their loved ones, relatives of the victims of the Tempe train crash tragedy began arriving early on Wednesday morning, April 1, at the Conference Center of the University of Thessaly (“GAIOPOLIS”) in Larissa, where the highly publicized trial is expected to begin. It should be noted that the first hearing on March 23 was suspended due to serious space planning and overcrowding issues, causing strong reactions from victims’ relatives, tragedy survivors, lawyers, and journalists.
The relatives encountered increased security measures and controls upon their arrival. It is noted that lawyers will enter first by showing identification and stating which party they represent (up to three per party), while the legitimization of the parties will be done gradually and under police supervision.
During the arrival of relatives and while awaiting the start of the trial, relatives and friends of the victims stood with banners and the slogan “We don’t forget, we don’t forgive” outside the courthouse.
