The KYSEA meeting has concluded, which began at 11 AM on Monday under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to reassess the data created by the war in the Middle East. During the session, extensive discussions took place regarding defense equipment and the country’s anti-drone, anti-aircraft, and anti-ballistic shield was approved.

KYSEA: “Green light” for all 5 defense programs worth €5 billion
Specifically, during the session, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias provided briefings on the latest diplomatic and military developments in the Middle East. Defense programs for the Armed Forces were approved.
In his statements after the meeting, Nikos Dendias said: “KYSEA today, regarding the proposals from the Ministry of National Defense, made a series of extremely important decisions, first concerning our homeland’s anti-drone, anti-aircraft, anti-ballistic shield, a very important part of Achilles’ Shield. I believe we are entering a new era.” He added: “The MEKO frigate modernization program continues after many years and we will have four vessels that will be able to respond to modern conditions.”
Additionally, he mentioned the infrastructure for F-35s and reminded that the first aircraft will be delivered to our country in 2028. He also spoke about modernizing 50 F-16s to F-16 Vipers. As he said: “With these, the Air Force will exceed 100 aircraft and together with the Rafale and F-35s, it will be one of the most powerful air forces in Europe,” while he also mentioned the maintenance of transport aircraft.
