Britain and the US cooperate “on a daily basis,” declared British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, responding to a question about whether the so-called “special relationship” between the two countries has been damaged. “It’s really important to emphasize that the US and the United Kingdom work together on a daily basis, as they always have,” Starmer said, adding: “Decisions about what is in Britain’s best interest are decisions made by Britain’s Prime Minister.”
Phone call between Starmer and Trump
It should be noted that yesterday, Sunday 8/03, Starmer spoke with American President Donald Trump, less than a day after Trump once again voiced criticism against the British leader for what he considers lack of support for the US campaign against Iran.
“The leaders began by discussing the latest developments in the Middle East and military cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States through the use of RAF (Royal Air Force) bases to support collective self-defense of partners in the region,” according to a statement issued by a spokesperson for Starmer’s office.
The announcement makes no reference to Trump’s recent statements in a post on Truth Social, where he responded to news that Britain might send an aircraft carrier to the region by saying: “We don’t need people who participate in Wars, since we have already won!”
Starmer’s office spokesperson added: “The Prime Minister also expressed his heartfelt condolences to President Trump and the American people for the deaths of six US soldiers.”
