With a black sky, Tehran dawned on Sunday (08/03), as thick smoke “devoured” the area following overnight Israeli attacks on oil facilities in Iran, with burning storage tanks and refineries creating a dark haze over the capital. Specifically, the targets of the attacks during Saturday night into Sunday, in Tehran and its surroundings, were four oil tanks and a maintenance facility used for transporting petroleum products that became targets of Israeli attacks, causing the deaths of four people.
Iran: Thick smoke “devoured” Tehran
Iranian authorities called on residents to remain indoors as there are risks to their health. Fuel distribution was “temporarily” suspended in Tehran after the strikes, said the capital’s governor Mohammad Sadeq Motamedian, according to the official news agency Irna.
These five sites “sustained damage” but “the fire is under control,” clarified Keramat Veiskarami, head of the national petroleum products distribution company, on state television. As he stated: “Four workers, including two drivers, were killed.”
