Traffic restrictions were implemented on Monday (26/1) in sections of the road network in the Regional Units of Kilkis, Serres and Halkidiki, due to intense rainfall affecting the region. The measures were decided for safety reasons, as announced by the General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia. In Kilkis, traffic was suspended on the old national road Evzoni – Thessaloniki, in the direction towards Thessaloniki, at the height of Polykastro and specifically at the junction of M. Alexandrou and Paikou streets. Vehicles with final destinations to the villages of Limnotopos, Aspros and Axiohori are exempt from this restriction.
Serres: Traffic suspended for all vehicles and pedestrians in the Sidirokastro “valley” area
In Serres, traffic restrictions are in effect on the provincial road Sidirokastro – Karydohorio for vehicles over 3.5 tons. The restriction of heavy vehicles is implemented at the intersection of the provincial road Sidirokastro – Karydohorio with the provincial road Sidirokastro – Haropou. At the same time, traffic was suspended for all vehicles and pedestrians in the “valley” area of Sidirokastro, between Stavros bridge and Varosio bridge, with restrictions implemented before the bridges.
In Halkidiki, traffic disruption is noted on the municipal road Ormylia – Vatopedio, as well as at the 1st kilometer of the provincial road Ormylia – Vrastamon, due to adverse weather conditions.
