Complete chaos is currently unfolding in Pagrati, Athens, where earlier today (14/1) a road collapse occurred at the intersection of Iophontos and Vasileos Georgiou streets. During the on-site inspection by parapolitika.gr, one can observe that the road surface subsidence has left behind a crater approximately 2-3 meters long and 1-2 meters wide in places.

Pagrati residents alarmed: Fears over building structural safety
The real confusion has been caused by the apparent lack of cooperation from the construction companies working on the nearby metro project. Authorities remain in the area to determine both how the collapse occurred and under what conditions restoration work is being carried out. This is because at least three concrete mixer trucks have flooded Vasileos Georgiou street, feeding a special crane vehicle that is pouring concrete to cover the damage.
Even more concerning is that none of the local residents have been informed about what will happen next, whether there is a risk to building structural integrity or electrical poles and lighting infrastructure (a lighting pole stands directly in the middle of the collapse). Currently, several tons of concrete are simply being poured to fill the hole.
As shown in parapolitika.gr footage, the hole that appeared in the ground is not only vertical but extends several meters toward the metro construction works in the area, leaving a section of road surface literally suspended in mid-air.

Chaos in Pagrati: Project supervisors nowhere to be found
As if all this wasn’t enough, police sources tell parapolitika.gr that they don’t know who is responsible for the construction work, as none of the employees or workers are willing to provide relevant information!
There are reports that the supervisor was at the site earlier, but for unknown reasons left the area. Information suggests that police oversight has been requested to handle the situation. Detentions may occur to get answers about who is responsible, with latest reports indicating that at least one has already taken place.
As if all this wasn’t enough, local residents point out that a worker suffered minor injuries and was reportedly taken to hospital by private means. However, this report has not been confirmed by health authorities or police.
