The Greek Parliament has approved by majority the Ministry of Defense bill titled “Transition Charter of the Armed Forces to the New Era” which includes comprehensive reforms for career development of officers, non-commissioned officers and professional soldiers, salary regulations for military personnel, reorganization of military academic education, conscription of Greeks, voluntary military service for women, and other provisions.
The bill secured 160 votes in favor during the principle vote. A total of 134 MPs voted against the legislation, while one MP declared present.
