Chania hospital treats sanitation workers: Deputy mayor’s statement
Deputy Mayor of Sanitation for the Municipality of Chania, Michalis Tsoupakis, addressed the incident in a post:
“During the holiday season, people celebrate and enjoy themselves. Meanwhile, sanitation workers fight their own battle to keep the city clean and safe.
Unfortunately, some irresponsible individuals seriously endangered the lives of two municipal employees by placing toxic substances in waste bins.
As a result, they inhaled toxic substances and spent the night in the hospital.
The responsibility we all have to protect people who work for the common good, as well as the environment, is great and we must not ignore it.”
