A new shocking testimony from the bus accident that occurred on Thursday morning, December 4th in Ptolemaida, comes to light. Specifically, the passenger-employee of the Public Power Corporation who kept his composure and managed to immobilize the bus in Kozani, preventing dozens of injuries, spoke to kozan.gr.
It should be noted that the bus accident in Ptolemaida occurred shortly after 7 AM on Thursday, December 4th, on the Ptolemaida-Kozani road, at the height of “Bora Bora,” when the bus driver began to feel unwell.
Bus crash in Ptolemaida: Grabbed the steering wheel from the driver’s hands and immobilized the vehicle
As Mr. Makis reports, he was the first to realize that the driver was not responding, while the bus began to dangerously deviate from its course. He then realized that the driver was not responding.
In fractions of a second, the passenger reacted instinctively: he grabbed the steering wheel, managed to straighten the vehicle, and then pressed the brake, stopping the bus before it derailed or collided with another vehicle. After the vehicle was immobilized, shock prevailed, but all passengers are in good health, thanks to his quick reaction.
Subsequently, an ambulance from the National Emergency Medical Service transported the 56-year-old to the “Mamatsio” General Hospital of Kozani, where despite the resuscitation efforts made by the doctors, he died a short time later. According to information from his family environment, he was not facing health problems.
“I was sitting approximately in the middle of the bus and at some point I heard a jolt and jumped up. I had heard the bus hitting the protective barriers, the ladies from the front seats started shouting. The bus continued to hit right and left on the barriers. At some point I fell, but I got up and went to the driver, who was fallen to the side and had lost consciousness. I was trying to press the brake to stop it, the driver had his legs there a bit, but I finally managed it and it stopped. I reacted instinctively. People were upset, but as soon as we stopped, everyone calmed down,” the passenger characteristically stated.
